The Message of the Resurrection

The Message of the Resurrection

I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51

When the Christ gave up his flesh, he was not giving up his life!  He was giving up his earthly life, his flesh it says here, from his own words. We know that it was not his, “life”, because he was resurrected and so proves ever-lasting life is a reality.  He was doing so because he loved humanity, he literally, was love, you could say, because, God is love, (1 John 4:16) he was one with the Father, he tells us so here, I and my Father are one. John 10:30. He could have went off and lived his earthly life, saying these poor saps just don’t get it but he didn’t.  Instead, he went to the horrific, humiliating, painful death on the cross, for us!  Wow, that is real love!

So, what was he trying to tell us when he said, “I am the living bread”, and, “if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever”?  He certainly wasn’t talking about the kind of bread you bake, you can not take it this literally.  He explains it a little further on in the book of John here.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing;  the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.  John 6:63

This brings some clarity to what he was saying.  For here he tells us that the words he speaks are spirit and life!   His words which he was speaking, what he was telling us was how to literally, be one with the Father, the creator who breathed the spirit of life into us.  If you remember in Genesis it tells us, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth…So, we were created in, his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  And God blessed them…This is something we must remember because the scriptures in their entirety actually do give us a clear understanding so we may obtain the spiritual knowledge which is necessary to actually be one as Jesus prayed that we would in John 17:21.

Paul too, mentions that it is God or the Spirit which, shall also quicken us.

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that

we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  Romans 8:10-17

This is why all things are possible, for we have been reconciled through Christ if we believe what he says.  Jesus explains it through the analogy of the vine.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye except ye abide in me.

I am the vine, ye are the branches:  He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit for without me ye can do nothing.  If a man abide not in me he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as

I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.  These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.  John 15:3-14

As you know and I have said before, a branch is not separated from the vine but is part of the vine.  The same life force is flowing through all of the branches, feeding and nourishing the entire plant!

Christ went to the cross so that we might have life!  With God and Christ in us we realize that we are a new creation!  All old things have passed away and we are filled with the power of the Living God!  This is why whosoever…shall have whatsoever he saith.  It is not some great feat of will power or because we have done anything deserving other than having faith in God and His son.  It is God who is doing the mountain moving!  We are simply believing in what Christ said, doing as commanded.  Glory to God!  How amazing is the Living God!

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:23

In Zechariah it was said this way..

Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Zechariah 4:6

Until next time, may you all be abundantly blessed!  May we all walk in love, abiding in Christ and the Father, knowing his Life is in Us!  May we all, be one!  Happy Easter to all of you!
